About Thanos From China Who Hacked 10 Ministries And Institutions, This Is The Police's Step
JAKARTA - The National Police stated that they have not handled any alleged hacking in 10 Indonesian government ministries/agencies. However, in the near future, the National Police will coordinate with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) regarding this matter.
"Yes, it is coordinated with the ministry," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, to reporters on Monday, September 13.
No follow-up action has been taken on the allegation because so far the Police are still monitoring the development of the issue. But, Argo emphasized, the first step in coordinating with the relevant Ministries has been done.
So, from the results of the coordination, the next steps can be determined. For example, conducting an investigation or submitting it to the Kemenkominfo.
"Coordinated (alleged hacking)," Argo said. Previously, Insikt Group reported that 10 Indonesian government ministries/agencies were hacked by Mustang Panda Group, a Chinese hacker using private ransomware called Thanos.
Even this hack is directly linked to China's espionage efforts in an effort to deal with the warming situation in the South China Sea.
