Note, Dog Meat Sellers Will Get Sanctions For Closing The Kiosk If They Are Still Stubborn

JAKARTA - The Marketing Manager of Pasar Jaya Regional Public Company (Perumda), Gatra Vaganza has summoned a trader who has sold dog meat at Pasar Senen Blok III, Central Jakarta. The summons is made to give sanctions to the seller.

"We as management have summoned and imposed administrative sanctions," said Gatra in a video statement, Sunday, September 12.

Gatra said that the closing sanctions will be given to traders if they are still determined to sell dog meat in Pasar Jaya.

"If the trader is still doing the same thing, strict action will be taken. Be it a temporary closure or a permanent closure," he said.

Gatra emphasized that the trade was clearly not in accordance with the existing regulatory corridors at Perumda Pasar Jaya. Where dog meat is not included in the commodity that can be traded in the market owned by Perumda Pasar Jaya.

"In the future this will be a lesson for us, evaluation in terms of market operations so that an incident like this will not happen again," said Gatra.

Previously reported, information about the existence of Pasar Senen traders selling dog meat in Pasar Senen Block III was revealed by Animal Defenders Indonesia (ADI).

"One stall that we investigated admitted that they sell at least 4 dogs a day. They have been operating for more than 6 years," said ADI through its Instagram account, @animaldefendersindo, Friday, September 10.
