COVID-19 Update As Of July 8: New Positive Cases Nearly 2,000 People

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, said that there were 1,863 new positive cases added. So that the total becomes 68,079 people, from examining 22,183 specimens.

"We have confirmed positive cases for today as many as 1,863 people. So that the total becomes 68,079 people," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 8.

According to Yuri, most of the new positive cases were from East Java, the region led by Khofifah Indar Parawansa had 366 new cases. Then Jakarta, the area led by Anies Baswedan today has 357 new cases and Central Java as many as 205 people.

Meanwhile, 17 Provinces reported positive cases below 10. Then, based on the data, there were 7 provinces that did not find positive cases.

"The provinces that today report no additional cases include Bangka Belitung, Jambi, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, West Sumatra, Riau and West Papua," said Yuri.

In addition, several other provinces also reported more cases of recovery than positive cases. So, as of July 8, an additional 800 cases recovered.

That way, cases recovered from the very beginning when COVID-19 was found or spread in Indonesia reached 31,585 people.

On the other hand, the addition also occurred in cases of meningal. Of the hundreds of Regencies / Cities affected by COVID-19, around 50 people or patients were reported to have died. Thus, the total of these cases reached 3,359 people.

"A total of 456 districts / cities have been affected in 34 provinces," said Yuri.

Furthermore, the government and related institutions are still monitoring 38,498 people who are included in the category of people under monitoring (ODP) for the next two weeks. Including, the 13,636 people who are registered in the patient list under surveillance (PDP).

"We still have to carry out strict monitoring for at least the next 14 days for people who have a history of close contact with positive confirmed cases," Yuri concluded.
