Wanti-Wanti Amendment To The 1945 Constitution And Jokowi's New Attitude
JAKARTA - The chairman of the PKS DPP, Mardani Ali Sera, has warned that the issue of the 1945 Constitution amendment is heating up again. According to Mardani, in principle, Article 37 is given space to make amendments, with a note that they must be more careful in maintaining the constitution. September.
Mardani assessed that the issue of amendments should be viewed based on theory and practice in the field. Because, he said, politics is the art of the impossible. "We really have to be able to see who is playing, what are the targets and objectives, see how the anatomical conditions are and where we project our projections to go," said Mardani.
This member of Commission II of the DPR RI explained that clear socialization was needed to the public to make amendments to the 1945 Constitution. The reason is that this amendment will also have an impact on people's lives and citizens.
"The first is to make sure the purpose of the amendment is well socialized. Because he is in the constitutional reference, we must refer him not only to elite consumption but also middle class consumption, academic consumption, media consumption. We even talk to students. Because this is an attitude of statesmanship, when we are talking about the constitution, then the mindset must be the mindset of a statesman," explained Mardani.
In addition, he added, the socialization of the amendments must also be carried out massively. If it is not carried out massively and the motive is clear, then it is appropriate to reject the proposed amendment.
"For statesmen, what can you do for your country. So if the socialization is not massive, the initiative is not clear on the motive and there is a closure in the process, it is almost certain that this is an order and we must reject it firmly," said Mardani. President Jokowi's latest response to the issue of this amendment? Jokowi's Political Attitude President Joko Widodo has stated that he will not interfere at all with the MPR RI regarding amendments to the 1945 Constitution, especially regarding the presidential term. Spokesperson for President Joko Widodo, Fadjroel Rachman, said that Jokowi had expressed a political stance to be in line with the 1945 Constitution, namely the term of office is only two terms.
"The president has shown a political attitude and this does not interfere with the agenda of the MPR. We are only saying the political stance of President Joko Widodo that he is loyal to the 45 Constitution," said Fadjroel, Saturday, September 11. Fadjroel said Jokowi would stick to the constitution, especially articles 7 of the 1945 Constitution which states 'The President and the Vice President hold office for five years and thereafter can be re-elected in the same office for only one term'.
"He is upright in Article 7 of the 1945 Constitution and then he has also said, apart from 3 periods of extension, he did not," said Fadjroel.
"This is the President's political stance, because we must not interfere with the amendment or the amendment agenda," he added.
However, Fadjroel stated that the government also cannot prohibit if there are parties who are discussing amendments. He said the discourse of every citizen is a constitutional right.
"This is only a constitutional right if we have a discourse, that's what we hold. As long as it doesn't violate the law, it doesn't violate the applicable laws and regulations," he concluded.
