Cool, For The Fourth Time In A Row Sepinggan Airport, Balikpapan Won The Asia Pacific Best Airport Award
BALIKPAPAN - Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan again won the award as the best airport in the Asia Pacific in terms of service for the category of the passenger capacity of 5-15 million passengers per year. The award received on September 9, 2021, is the fourth time in a row.
ACI named Sepinggan Airport as the best airport in a virtual event held at its headquarters in Montreal, Canada. "That is the Airport Service Quality (ASG) Award 2020 and given by the Airports Council International (ACI)", explained General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Sepinggan Barata Singgih Riwahono, in Balikpapan, Friday, September 10.
According to Riwahono, the assessment was based on the results of a service survey at the airport which was conducted by ACI secretly. "The surveyed are all airports in the world according to their respective categories", he said as reported by Antara.
He said the services surveyed cover all aspects of service at the airport, from passengers during the check-in process, baggage handling, methods and treatment for entering the departure gate, how to get to the plane, to the cleanliness and comfort of the toilets. "It is not easy to maintain this achievement, because other airports around the world in the same category also want to be the best", said Riwahono.
Sepinggan Airport began participating in this event in 2017 and immediately won the "runner up" category for the Best Airport in the Asia Pacific region and has a passenger capacity of 5-15 million per year.
After trying hard to make many improvements, in 2018, Sepinggan also won the title of the best airport and will continue to be maintained until 2021. "In 2020, even in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, it does not diminish our determination to continue to provide excellent service to all service users", said Riwahono.
He also expressed his deepest gratitude to the entire airport community who have worked hard to produce this award.
From the ACI website, it is stated that a total of 348 airports around the world participated in the event, divided into six regions, namely North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific.
The participants competed in six categories, namely the Best Airport in the region with a capacity of less than 2 million, 2-5 million, 5-15 million, and 15-25 million, 25-40 million, and more than 40 million passengers per year.
