Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Prepares Steps For Renovation Of Buildings And Recovery Of Tangerang Prison Prisoners
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) has made sure to immediately renovate Block C Class 1 prison in Tangerang which was burned down. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights has formed a special team for physical recovery and handling of injured and deceased prisoners.
"It means that the renovation process is also being carried out," said Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Section of the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Rika Aprianti, quoted by Antara, Friday, September 10.
He said that the renovation of the Class 1 Tangerang prison would be carried out in line with the current condition, namely the overcapacity of inmates' housing.
"There are 2,069 prisons that must be filled with 600 people. Likewise with Block C, which must be filled with 38 people, but at the time of the incident there were 122 people. Therefore, renovations will be carried out immediately," he said.
The Ministry of Law and Human Rights also maintains the conduciveness of the Tangerang prison after the incident. One of the things that was done was to provide treatment for injured prisoners.
In addition to physical, recovery is also done for the psychic. "We give this trauma healing to all prisoners," he said.
Previously, the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly said that the cause of the fire was due to an electrical short circuit due to the absence of maintenance on electrical installations.
The Tangerang Class 1 prison, which was built since 1972, only added power but for installation there was no maintenance so it was a temporary guess.
