Second Week Of September, Foreign Capital Entering Indonesia Rp1.66 Trillion

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that foreign capital inflows into the domestic financial market in the second week or period 6-9 September 2021 reached Rp1.66 trillion.

The inflow of foreign capital consisted of net buys in the Government Securities (SBN) market of Rp. 810 billion and in the stock market of Rp. 850 billion.

"Based on transaction data for September 6-9, 2021, non-residents in the domestic financial market bought a net Rp. 1.66 trillion," said BI's Chief Executive Director of Communications Erwin Haryono in a written statement received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Friday, September 10.

Thus, from January to the second week of September 2021 (year to date/ytd), non-resident investors recorded a net purchase of up to Rp32.88 trillion.

On the other hand, the risk premium indicator, namely Indonesia's 5-year Credit Default Swap (CDS), rose to 67.09 basis points (bps) as of September 9, 2021 from 66.33 bps as of September 3, 2021.

Meanwhile, the rupiah exchange rate on Friday morning, September 10 opened at the (bid) level of Rp. 14,250 per US dollar. The central bank noted that this position was the same as the position on Thursday, September 9, which was closed at the level (bid) of Rp. 14,250 per US dollar. Meanwhile, the yield of 10-year Government Securities fell slightly to the level of 6.15 percent, Friday, September 10, after on Thursday, September 9 increased to a position of 6.16 percent.

Erwin said BI will continue to strengthen coordination with the government and relevant authorities to closely monitor the dynamics of the spread of COVID-19, and its impact on the Indonesian economy from time to time.
