Good News, Daily COVID-19 Funerals In Jakarta Reduced Drastically

JAKARTA - Head of the City Parks and Forest Service, Suzi Marsitawati, said that currently the number of funerals for corpses with COVID-19 procedures in Jakarta has drastically reduced every day, in line with the current decline in COVID-19 cases.

"The condition of the cemetery with the COVID-19 protocol in our system is already visible. It's really gone down drastically," said Suzi at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Friday, September 10.

It is known, since mid-June, the number of funerals with COVID-19 procedures began to rise rapidly in the hundreds per day.

At that time, there was a spike in cases in Jakarta and a number of areas in Indonesia.

Peak, the highest daily COVID-19 funerals occurred on July 10 to 400 funerals. Now, the number of COVID-19 funerals continues to decline.

As of September 1, there were 14 funerals with COVID-19 protocols in Jakarta. Then, it continued to decline until on September 9 there were 5 funerals.

"This week the number of funerals has been in single digits, already below 10," said Suzi.
