Vaccine Update Today: Indonesia Returns Hundreds Of Thousands Of AstraZeneca Vaccines
JAKARTA - Indonesia again received 358,700 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine today. The vaccine that arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport is a support from the French Government through multilateral cooperation.
“Alhamdulillah, today Indonesia again received the arrival of 358,700 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through the COVAX Facility multilateral channel. This arrival is the delivery of the first phase of support for dose-sharing cooperation from the French Government," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a virtual press conference, Friday, September 10.
The total commitment of AstraZeneca vaccine supply to Indonesia is 3 million doses. Retno expressed her appreciation for the support provided by the French Government in handling the pandemic in Indonesia.
"On behalf of the Indonesian government, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the French government," said Retno.
Retno continued, in addition to the support from the COVAX Facility and friendly countries, the Indonesian government also continues to purchase vaccines to meet the vaccination needs of the Indonesian people.
"Today, the purchase of 615 thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and 639,990 doses of Pfizer vaccine has also arrived," said Retno.
Furthermore, Retno conveyed that there are still many challenges that must be overcome in order to win the "war" against the pandemic.
Facing this war, Retno asked the support of all Indonesian people by vaccinating and discipline in implementing health protocols.
"Let's vaccinate and we will run the health protocol. God willing, with all of our efforts, together with hard work, discipline, and unity we can get out of this pandemic," he concluded.
