Sanctions By Jakarta Transportation Agency Personnel Squeeze Driver Temporarily Released, Ombudsman: Should Be Dismissed

JAKARTA - Head of the Greater Jakarta Ombusman Representative, Teguh Nugroho, highlighted the sanctions imposed by the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) who were relieved of their duties by the DKI Provincial Government Inspector.

Two officers from the DKI Transportation Agency were relieved of their duties for one year because they were proven to extort a driver who brought a group of vaccination participants.

According to Teguh, the Dishub officer could receive more severe sanctions. In fact, they can be dismissed from their positions as ASN.

"It is appropriate to take action against Dishub officers who make illegal levies into the category of severe discipline and can be terminated, either respectfully without a request or not respectfully," said Teguh to reporters, Friday, September 10.

Teguh explained, the violations committed by Dishub elements should refer to Article 13 Paragraph 6 of PP Number 53 of 2010 concerning Civil Servant Discipline.

The article states that civil servants who carry out joint activities with superiors, colleagues, subordinates, or other people inside or outside their work environment for the purpose of personal gain, group or other parties, which directly or indirectly harm the state, if the violation has a negative impact on the government and/or the state, the law is a severe disciplinary punishment.

"The actions taken in question are not only detrimental to the institution, in this case the DKI Transportation Agency, but also the DKI government and the Indonesian government in general, because the extortion actions they carry out represent government officials," explained Teguh.

Previously, it was reported that a bus containing a group of poor people who were going to participate in the vaccine was intercepted by Jakarta Transportation Agency officers in front of ITC Cempaka Mas, Central Jakarta. The officer extorted the driver for Rp. 500 thousand.

They were then examined by the DKI Inspectorate. The results of the examination report (BAP), the two individuals with the initials SG and S were proven to have committed extortion. As a result, they are currently dismissed or off-duty.

In addition, the two Dishub officers also received a 30 percent cut in regional performance allowances for 9 months. Then, they cannot receive promotions for 1 year.
