New Chapter Of National Energy Development, Government And DPR Agree To Stimulate The Utilization Of Solar Energy

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to seek the use of solar energy as a new source of electricity generation in the country.

Through the State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) PT Len Industri, the government is trying to increase the production capacity of solar cells and modules to support the national energy mix.

The Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, said his party encouraged PT LEN Industri to continue to deepen the industrial structure down to the downstream.

"The special mandate given by the government to PT LEN Industri is to make solar cells by processing silica sand as raw materials," he said during a visit to Bandung as quoted from the official website, Friday, September 10. Taufiek added, through the expertise and mastery of technology, PT Len The industry is claimed to have succeeded in responding to challenges and participating in national strategic projects to oversee the energy transition in Indonesia. "PT Len Industri is also actively transforming into a developer of national-scale energy projects," he said. Eddy Soeparno said that his party appreciated PT Len Industri which had made a number of improvements to its manufacturing capabilities in the development of solar panels. According to him, this effort can make Indonesia an independent and sovereign country in terms of energy.

"We want solar cells from PT LEN to be used in government projects and infrastructure, such as the 14MW Cirata Reservoir Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) project, as well as in other energy projects," he said.

Similarly, President Director of PT LEN Industri Bobby Rasyidin said that the solar module production capacity of the company he leads has reached 75 MW per year. "For information, the current domestic component level (TKDN) for solar module products from PT LEN Industri has reached 47.5 percent. It was stated that the state-owned entity was trying to increase the value of TKDN by building a domestic solar cell factory. This is also in line with Indonesia's goal as a country with independence in the upstream industrial sector (component industry). "We hope that PT Len Industri can continue to receive support from stakeholders to help this company develop the electronics industry ecosystem more broadly," concluded Bobby. .
