Proven Racist, 50-year-old West Brom Banned From Attending The Stadium
JAKARTA - West Bromwich Albion imposed a stadium ban on a 50-year-old fan who was convicted of racially abusing midfielder Romaine Sawyers earlier this year.
Reporting Antara, Friday, Sawyers became the target of racial abuse online after West Brom lost 0-5 against Manchester City on January 26 last.
A Walsall Magistrates' Court found the perpetrator guilty of violating the Communications Act after posting a "disgusting attack message".
"The club welcomes the guilty verdict and has issued a life ban on him," West Brom said in a statement on their website on Thursday night.
"West Brom are proud of our track record of fighting all forms of discrimination and our message to supporters is clear: racism is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the club," read the statement.
Club statement: Albion issue lifetime tires.
