Motives Revealed Husband Kills Wife In Garut Then Tries Suicide
GARUT - Garut Police Chief AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono said the case of a husband killing his wife in Selaawi District, Garut Regency, West Java, was allegedly due to economic factors. This husband and wife quarrel culminated in torture which caused the wife to die.
"According to the witness statement, the main motive was economic factors, because in recent times there have been economic difficulties which eventually led to a quarrel between the two of them," the Garut Police Chief told reporters quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 9.
AKBP Wirdhanto said that the perpetrator AN (28) committed domestic violence (KDRT) against his wife MM (25) and eventually died due to multiple stab wounds.
Her husband's action, the police chief said, was carried out by banging his head and then sticking scissors into several of the victims' bodies at his house in Cibingbin Village, Selaawi District, on Wednesday, September 8.
"Finally, the victim died instantly of blood loss," he said.
The police chief said that the persecution that led to his death was known by local residents. The perpetrator who panicked tried to end his life by injuring his neck, but the action was prevented and was taken to the hospital.
"The perpetrator is being treated because the perpetrator attempted to commit suicide and is currently being treated at the Sartika Asih Hospital in Bandung," said the police chief.
AKBP Wirdhanto said that the police had not investigated further regarding the perpetrator who dared to kill his wife, because the condition of the perpetrator was still undergoing medical treatment.
The police will ensnare the perpetrators with multiple articles, namely the presence of elements of premeditated murder, including the Domestic Violence Act (KDRT) which carries a penalty of more than 12 years in prison.
