This Is The Reason For Haris Azhar To Invite Luhut To Discuss On His YouTube Program Regarding The 'Main Mining' Polemic
JAKARTA - Executive Director of Lokataru Haris Azhar continues to invite the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to discuss on his YouTube program.
This was conveyed in response to a subpoena from Luhut who felt his reputation was tarnished due to Haris' video content with KontraS Coordinator Fatia Maulida. In the video, Luhut is said to have participated in 'playing mining' in Papua through the company PT Tobacom Del Mandiri, a subsidiary of the Toba Sejahtera Group.
"We have conveyed to them, the point is to invite him, either his legal representative or directly with the principal, namely Mr. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan to convey clarification or the right to answer on Haris Azhar's YouTube channel," said Hendrayana, one of Haris Azhar's legal team to VOI via telephone. , Thursday, September 9th.
He then explained that the invitation to the discussion was a form of good faith. Hendrayana said that Luhut and his legal representatives would have had time to explain their objections to Haris Azhar.
Moreover, the statement made by KontraS in the YouTube broadcast is the result of research by a number of NGOs.
"In essence, we welcome inviting discussions to clarify whether there is misinformation related to research conducted by NGO colleagues, please deny it," said Hendrayana.
"So when we meet later, we invite you, we provide a forum for discussion on our YouTube channel. So, we invite to meet first, from the results of the meeting what he wants to convey, we are ready to facilitate," he added.
Hendrayana also considered that there was nothing wrong with the invitation. He said it was a good thing to do considering that Haris Azhar's YouTube account often talks about issues that touch the public interest.
"It's a good forum to convey the right to answer so what according to the interpretation of Pak Luhut and his legal counsel can be conveyed clearly," he said.
As Haris Azhar's attorney, Hendrayana hopes that Luhut and his attorney will sit down with the issue. However, he still respects if they do not want to attend and chooses to report to the police.
"It would be better than the forum that was discussed with KontraS yesterday and also discussed in a forum not with a police report. But even if it is a step taken by Pak Luhut, we appreciate it and are ready to face it," he said.
"We still hope that he invites our clients to respond well (Luhut and his legal counsel, ed)," he concluded.
