BATAM - The Riau Islands Police team arrested three recidivist suspects for theft in five houses in Batam City.

In addition to the three theft suspects, ER, RY and RS, the police also arrested two suspects for interfering with MI and OP in that case. The five are recidivists who repeatedly commit the same crime as theft with weighting and detention.

The Riau Islands Police revealed the case based on five separate reports from victims at several Polsek in the Barelang Police Station and the Riau Islands Police Integrated Police Service Center.

"Then from the results of the investigation, the team received information that the three suspects were in the Nagoya area of Batam City. The team quickly moved to the location and made arrests," he said.

When the team made the arrest, the suspect tried to escape, so that decisive action was taken against the two suspects with the initials ER and RY.

In the development of the evidence that had been sold, the officers arrested MI and OP who acted as intermediaries.

Meanwhile, the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Jefri Ronald Parulian Siagian, stated that the five suspects were recidivists who had repeatedly committed criminal acts and had been in and out of prison many times. Of the five suspects, ER and RY are suspected of being the masterminds of the perpetrators.

From that case, the police officers secured evidence including cell phones of various brands, laptop computers, motorcycles, rings, bracelets, glasses, kitchen knives, crowbars and small scissors which were tools used by the suspects to dismantle their respective residences. victim.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 363 paragraph (2) 3 and 4 in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 9 years in prison and Article 480 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
