It Turns Out That There Was An Effort For Peace At The Meeting Of Victims Of Harassment Of KPI Employees With The Suspected Perpetrator

JAKARTA - MS, an alleged victim of sexual harassment at the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) office, is reported to have met the alleged perpetrators at the KPI office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 8, yesterday.

The lawyers for the alleged perpetrators with the initials RT and EO, Tegar Putuhena confirmed the meeting. He said the meeting discussed peace efforts.

"Our client was present at KPI yesterday. Invited. Not on the initiative of our client. The one who invited from his side with this information was a request for peace from Mr. MS," said Tegar when contacted by reporters, Thursday, September 9.

Tegar said, as a lawyer, he did not participate in the meeting. Because MS also came without his legal representative.

He also left it entirely up to his client whether to choose to make peace or continue the legal process by reporting back to MS. However, if there is to be peace, he believes there must be an agreement that benefits both parties.

"We in this case only survive and defend the legal interests of our clients," he said.

Meanwhile, MS's attorney, Rony Hutahaean, also received information that his client had met the alleged perpetrators at the KPI office yesterday.

Rony also smelled that there was an attempt by a certain party to make his client want to make peace with the alleged perpetrator.

This effort was made to save the name of the KPI institution.

"There is a plan by certain parties to make peace between the 5 suspected perpetrators and the victim so that the name of the institution being led is saved," said Rony.

Rony said that one of these efforts could be seen from the KPI's move to summon MS alone without being accompanied by a legal representative.

He stated that MS's legal team was not anti-restorative justice. However, he regretted that this peace effort was carried out without involving a team of lawyers.

"We very much regret that unethical ways of overriding the power of attorney are still used to achieve something he hopes for, even if the purpose is good," said Rony.

When confirmed about the meeting between MS and the alleged perpetrator at the KPI office, KPI Commissioner Nuning Rodiyah was reluctant to answer on the grounds that he was still out of town.

"My position is still in East Java," he said.

Prior to yesterday's meeting with the alleged perpetrators, MS had also met the commissioner and the KPI internal investigation team on Tuesday, September 7th. At that time, MS came to the KPI office accompanied by his mother.
