The Brother Admits Saipul Jamil Doesn't Want Glorification, Blames Journalists

JAKARTA - Singer Saipul Jamil is threatened with a boycott. After being released from prison, his appearance in public reaps the pros and cons.

It started when Saipul Jamil was greeted with accompaniment and flower garlands. Warganet who saw the incident felt disapproved and called Saipul a pedophile.

Saipul Jamil's older brother, M. Soleh Kawi, felt disapproved of the public criticism of his younger brother. He also admitted that he did not know that Saipul Jamil would be greeted with great fanfare after being released from prison.

"First, let me clarify, Saipul doesn't know what kind of welcome he wants to be. He wants to come here to make a pilgrimage to the sea, but he doesn't know which sea. Look how tacky he is holding a cellphone and he stands and is detained by reporters," said Soleh, quoted from Era .id.

Soleh said that Saipul was told to stand by a row of reporters even though they were about to leave and were already picked up. As a result, Saipul felt aggrieved because it was provoked by the community about the welcome.

"He has been provoked, people have a wrong perception about the welcome. Who welcomes? We welcome it normally," he continued.

Increasingly annoyed, Soleh leaked the identity of the victim of sexual abuse Saipul Jamil. "This is just an opinion, in fact the victim who was born in Cirebon, aged 18, has attended the North Jakarta workshop. If we are in 2012 he is already 16 years old, meaning 4 years later he will be 20 years old. This is a trial fact," he said angrily.

Regarding the boycott which reached half a million signatures on Change.org, Soleh did not mind the public perception. He said, local television shows are not only watched in Indonesia.

“People's rights petition, there is love, it's okay to not love, it's okay. My message, just love it because one day you will hate it. Go ahead, those who watch TV are not just Indonesians," he said casually.
