Bengawan Solo River Polluted By Ciu Processing Waste, Ganjar Pranowo: This Is A Pride, We Will Find It

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said that the re-occurrence of pollution from the Bengawan Solo River due to waste from the ciu processing industry had gone too far, so decisive action needed to be taken.

"I think this has been a pleasure because not only the area in Blora, but also in Solo. So actually this is what we are trying to find today," he said in Semarang, as reported by Antara, Thursday, September 9.

Ganjar revealed that the mode of pollution of the Bengawan Solo River this time was still the same as the previous case, namely disposing of sewage or alcohol processing waste around Blora.

The Central Java Provincial Government, Ganjar continued, has coordinated with the police to take firm action regarding the case because the party who disposed of the ciu processing waste was considered to have challenged the government, especially in the previous case that had been given a stern warning.

"It has been checked, there was a virtual meeting with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Of course the local team has come down, the national team has also gone down, we will process it later, we will look for it," he said.

For information, a special team from the Central Java Provincial Government has been dispatched to check and observe the cloudy water of the Bengawan Solo River.

The observations were made after the Solo Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) stopped water treatment at the Semanggi Post, Kliwon Market, Solo, because the river water was indicated to be contaminated with ciu waste, precisely on Tuesday, September 7 morning.

The case of ciu waste pollution in the Bengawan Solo River also occurred in 2019 and at that time it was known that the pollution originated from ciu processing industrial waste around the upstream of the river.
