Called Ready To Run For The 2024 Presidential Election, Golkar: Airlangga Is Concentrating On Managing The Pandemic
JAKARTA - The Golkar Party has denied that General Chair Airlangga Hartarto is preparing to run as a presidential candidate in 2024. The reason is that Airlangga is currently focusing on carrying out his duties as Coordinating Minister for the Economy to ease the burden on people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the chairman of the Golkar Party DPP Sarmudji, Airlangga hardly had time to discuss electoral matters leading to the 2024 presidential election. Because of his busy schedule as Chair of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN).
"Pak Airlangga is currently concentrating on being a minister, in fact he hardly has time to think about becoming a presidential candidate in 2024," said Sarmudji, Wednesday, September 8.
Airlangga, he continued, also held more command of handling the pandemic from Jakarta. As for the regional review, his capacity as a minister was also recently carried out.
"He really leads the command to handle COVID-19, we as cadres can understand even though we want him to think about the presidential nomination," said Sarmudji.
Previously, the results of the TBRC (West Timor Research Center) survey stated that 78.9 percent of respondents stated that Golkar was a successful political party close to the community.
"The Golkar Party has the ability to be in the circle of power so that it can direct state policies according to the will of the people," TBRC Executive Director Yohanes Romeo told reporters on Monday, September 6.
