East Java Governor Asks Magetan And Ponorogo To Increase COVID-19 Tracking
MAGETAN - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa asked the Magetan and Ponorogo Regency Governments to increase tracking among residents suspected of being exposed to the corona virus in order to optimize the handling of COVID-19 cases.
His party asked that efforts to increase the tracking be massively carried out following the condition of Magetan and Ponorogo Regencies, which are the two remaining areas in East Java that are still PPKM level 4.
"Epidemologically for Magetan, daily cases have been controlled, hospitalizations have also been controlled. So what must be done now is to reduce the mortality rate and the "tracing ratio" must be increased," he said when giving directions to Magetan Regent Suprawoto and Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko in Pendapa Surya Graha Magetan Banquet Room, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 8.
He considered the massive tracking speed up efforts to control COVID-19. Because, the sooner it is found, the sooner it can be cured, and it reduces the death rate.
Based on the situation assessment released by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia as of Wednesday, the areas in East Java that are still implementing level 4 PPKM are Magetan and Ponorogo districts, level 3 has 19 districts/cities, level 2 has 16 districts/cities, and level 1 has only one area, namely Lamongan. .
Magetan Regent Suprawoto said that the local government continues to make various efforts to control COVID-19 cases, one of which is intensifying vaccinations, where currently the elderly are at high risk.
"In Magetan, 20 percent of COVID-19 cases are mostly at the age of 60 years and over. Because the risk of the elderly is very high, the vaccine policy that we prioritize is the elderly. So, we ask for help to increase the number of vaccines so that future risks can be reduced pressed," he said.
It also plans to build semi-permanent emergency hospitals in Lembeyan and Panekan areas to anticipate the surge.
He said if the COVID-19 condition could be controlled, the two hospitals could be used for something else.
The Magetan Regency Government is also intensively conducting socialization about the implementation of health care programs. So far, the graph of COVID-19 cases continues to decline, as does the death toll.
It was recorded, overall in Magetan the confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday had reached 10,277 people. Of that number, 9,131 people have recovered, 193 are still under monitoring, and 953 people have died.
