KPK Names West Java As Rank 1 In Corruption Cases, Firli Reminds DPRD Members: Hold On To People's Trust

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said West Java was ranked in the top 10 regions with the most corruption cases handled.

He conveyed this in front of 120 West Java legislators during a coordination meeting for the integrated corruption eradication program at the West Java Provincial DPRD Building.

"Of the top ten corruption cases in the regions handled by the KPK, West Java is ranked first with 101 cases," said Firli in a written statement, Thursday, September 8.

He then mentioned the duties and functions of DPRD related to budgeting. According to him, the four stages in the process are prone to corrupt practices, with the most common modes being extortion, gratification, and bribery.

"There are four stages in the council's duties related to budgeting. Of the four stages, all are prone to corruption. Starting from the preparation, approval and ratification, there are vulnerabilities. The implementation is also there, the last is the supervision, there is also vulnerability," said Firli.

Therefore Firli reminded the participants who attended the event to carry out their duties properly to realize the eradication of corruption so that good and clean governance could be realized.

"It should be remembered that in planning, implementing, and evaluating the APBD, the executive and legislature are partners. They are not competing with each other," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.

In addition, Firli encourages improvement efforts in the regions as well as reminding all executive levels in the regional government, legislature and business entities so as not to fall into acts of corruption.

"I believe that my friends were chosen by the people. For that, hold on to the people's trust. Don't miss the five-year service period because of corruption," he said.

In response to this, the Chairman of the West Java DPRD, Taufik Hidayat, hopes that the KPK will accompany him to carry out his duties and functions.

"Hopefully the KPK's arrival is part of efforts to create a good and clean government. We hope for assistance from the KPK, especially in the budgeting function so that an effective and efficient APBD that is in accordance with the laws and regulations can be compiled as well as possible," he concluded. .
