Pangdam Cenderawasih: 5 US-made KSB Guns Don't Belong To The TNI-Polri
JAYAPURA - Military Commander XVII/Cendrawasih Major General Ignatius Yoga Triyono confirmed that the five firearms seized by Koramil 1715-05/Batom members from the armed civilian group (KSB) did not belong to the TNI-Polri.
"It has been confirmed from the serial numbers of the firearms made in the United States, not belonging to the TNI-Polri, that they were taken from Bougenville, Papua New Guinea (PNG). From the provisional confession of the two KSB members who were arrested, it was revealed that the guns came from Bougenville, PNG," said Major General TNI. Yogo Triyono in Jayapura quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 8.
He said his party was still conducting an investigation, including which guns would be supplied and to strengthen which group.
The two people arrested, namely Yulian Uropmabin (36) and Kapol Uropmabin (42) are currently in Jayapura, and will later be handed over to the Papua Police for legal processing.
The case was revealed thanks to reports from residents who were suspicious because they were suspected of heading to Mongham which is the headquarters of KSB.
"As Commander of XVII Cenderawasih, I appreciate the performance of the four members of Koramil 1715-05/Batom because it proves that communication with the community went well so that the case was revealed," said Major General TNI Yogo.
Previously, Dandrem 172/PWY Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan separately said that initially there was information from the community in Abukerom village who saw an unknown person (OTK) using a motorboat from PNG to Mongham, but the boat was damaged in Muara village.
With this report, members of Koramil 1715-05/BatomKoramil 1715-05/Batom led by Sergeant Ari Netson Arabia along with residents and members of Linmas headed to Muara Village and conducted a siege in the middle of the Oksip – Mongham river.
The evidence that was secured included two M16 weapons, one of which was equipped with a GLM, one mouser, one Double Loop weapon, two homemade long-barreled weapons, 37 rounds of 5.56 caliber ammunition and GLM, the Morning Star flag, five flashes. disk, one solar cell, and six sharp weapons.
