Update On COVID-19 As Of July 6: Hospital Capacity Still Large Despite Increasing Cases

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, explained the progress of the case as of Monday, July 6 at 12.00 WIB. There were an additional 1,209 confirmed positive cases today. The total number of positive cases became 59,394 people.

Yuri said, although the number of new cases increased by more than a thousand people every day, the number of hospital occupations that specialized in handling COVID-19 had not increased drastically.

"In the last three days, the occupancy rate of beds prepared for COVID-19 sufferers has only been filled at around 53 percent," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Monday, July 6.

Most of the cases confirmed positive in recent times were cases that had no indication for hospitalization or people without symptoms (OTG) and had mild symptoms. Thus, they are advised to isolate independently.

"In fact, there is no indication for treatment at the hospital, so we advise the person concerned to carry out proper isolation independently," said Yuri.

Meanwhile, the province with the highest number of new cases today is East Java with 308 new cases. East Java has also become a province with the highest total accumulation of cases, namely 14,321 cases.

Then, provinces with other high new cases are in DKI Jakarta with 232 cases and a total of 12,667 cases. Then, Central Java with 127 new cases and 4,738 total cases, West Java with 126 new cases and a total of 3,700 cases, and South Sulawesi with 84 new cases and a total of 5,974 cases.

Of the 34 provinces that reported, 19 provinces reported new cases under 10. Of these, 11 of them reported that today there were no additional new cases.

"Provinces that report no new cases are Aceh, Bengkulu, Jambi, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Riau Islands, West Sumatra, Central Sumatra, North Maluku, West Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara," he said.

Then, the number of patients who died today increased by 70 people, bringing it to 3,241 patients. There were an additional 814 patients recovered, bringing the total to 29,919 patients.

If you look at the distribution of data on recovered cases, there are 7 provinces that report recovery rates that are higher than new cases. North Sulawesi Province today reported that only 10 were confirmed positive but 31 people had recovered.

Then, Papua has 6 new cases but 48 recovered, Riau has only 4 new cases, 9 recovered cases, Aceh has no new cases but 9 recovered, Riau Islands has no new cases but 3 recovered, West Sumatra has no had new cases but 2 recovered, and West Sumatra had no new cases but 4 recovered.

"This picture shows that cases of recovery will continue to increase from time to time," said Yuri.

Furthermore, the total number of specimens that had been examined was accumulatively as many as 928,238. In detail, 905,353 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 22,885 specimens were examined using a molecular rapid test (TCM).

This examination was carried out in 144 active RT-PCR laboratories, 112 TCM laboratories, and 280 network laboratories. The rate of positive cases was 11.8 percent of all examinations conducted.

Then, the patient data under surveillance (PDP) which is currently still under surveillance reached 13,360 people. Meanwhile, people under monitoring (ODP) who are currently still being monitored reach 38,848.
