Haji Lulung Failed To Move On From PPP

JAKARTA - Abraham Lunggana or who is familiarly called Haji Lulung has officially declared his resignation from membership of the National Mandate Party (PAN) to return to his old party, the United Development Party (PPP).

"Not moving, but back to PPP. If I move, it will give me the impression of jumping," said Lulung, Tuesday, September 7.

Lulung admitted that he had written a letter declaring his resignation from PAN on September 1, 2021, which was submitted to the PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas).

"Starting on September 1, I have written a letter to Mr. Zulhas. The letter stated that he was quitting, not resigning," said Lulung.

Lulung claimed that the main reason for returning to PPP was solely because of pressure from the ulama. The ulema, he said, asked him to revive PPP.

Lulung said that he had no problems with the top ranks of PAN so far. He said Zulhas had allowed himself to return to PPP. "I'm sorry to Pak Zul, I returned to PPP. Because of the urging of the ulama. I was given a thumbs up by Pak Zulhas," he said.

PAN Confirms Haji Lulung Returns to 'Old House'

The National Mandate Party (PAN) confirmed that Abraham Lunggana or who is familiarly called Haji Lulung has officially resigned. Even already know, the news that Haji Lulung returned to his old party, the United Development Party (PPP).

"It is true that Haji Lulung has sent his resignation letter and has contacted me. He has returned to his old home at PPP," said PAN Secretary General Eddy Soeparno in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 7.

Eddy also congratulated and wished Haji Lulung success with his business at PPP.

"I personally wish Mr. Haji Lulung good luck on duty, congratulations and success in carrying out all his endeavors," he said.

Eddy said that PAN had prepared an Intertime Substitution (PAW) to replace Haji Lulung who served on Commission VII of the DPR. PAN, he said, would immediately implement an internal mechanism so that a PAN cadre named Dian could replace Haji Lulung as soon as possible.

“(His replacement, ed) there is a woman named Dian. So we will call later to prepare ourselves so that the person concerned can later replace PAW from Haji Lulung," explained Eddy Soeparno.

PPP: Alhamdulillah Haji Lulung Returns to His Habitat

The United Development Party (PPP) DPP responded to the news of the return of Abaraham Lunggana or familiarly called Haji Lulung (HL) to the party bearing the Kaaba symbol. It is known, Haji Lulung was a PPP cadre before moving to the National Mandate Party (PAN).

"All I can say is Alhamdulillah if HL returns to PPP," PPP Secretary General Arsul Sani told VOI, Tuesday, September 7.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) DPP Achmad Baidowi, explained that until now the PPP DPP had not received a letter from him to return to being part of the party led by Suharso Manoarfa.

"Until now," said Baidowi confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, September 7.

However, he did not deny that he had heard of the return of Haji Lulung to PPP. According to him, the Kaaba Party is indeed their habitat.

Given, he said, Haji Lulung is one of the administrators of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) at the regional level. In addition, he has held a number of positions at PPP, both at the branch and regional levels.

"I've also heard that information, it's good that PPP is very open.

After all, Haji Lulung is not someone else, so he has also been in PPP in the DPW, DPC, and is now an administrator at PBNU with me. And now he is more suitable to return to PPP, thank God, we are very open, Pak Haji Lulung, indeed his habitat is in PPP, not in other parties," explained Awiek, his nickname.

Regarding Haji Lulung, who is reported to be the chairman of PPP Jakarta, Awiek explained that the appointment of the DKI DPW was based on a letter from the DPP, where so far there has been no letter from the center.

"If later he was reassigned as Chairman of the DPW, it's normal to call it a reverse process. Haji Lulung as a citizen has the same political rights, if people want to return to PPP and want to grow PPP, we can't refuse, we will definitely accept it," he explained.

The secretary of the DPP PPP faction in the DPR admitted that Haji Lulung had once said that he was more suited to PPP than other parties.

"Personally, I have met, yes, I also had time to tell stories about his political experiences, in the past at PPP and in other parties, 'how come I am more suited to PPP', just informally," he said.

Old Reasons for Haji Lulung to Move to PAN

It is known, in 2018, Lulung officially moved the party from PPP to PAN with one of the reasons for choosing the party led by Zulkifli Hasan because he considered PAN to be a party with trustworthy character.

"After there was a vacuum in the United Development Party facing the legislative and presidential elections, of course, I had to have a choice to move, move to where Pak Haji Lulung went, move to a trustworthy party. Lulung said that PPP was fired because he was reluctant to support Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok in the 2017 DKI Pilkada.

"Only my friends seemed nervous. At first I thought they dumped me, but then when I moved they were told I don't have political morals, when I talk about political morals, yes, this is a trustworthy party," he continued. Lulung said, PAN not an Islamic political party but a nationalist. But it has a Muslim base. PAN is not only fighting for the interests of the people but also the nation and the state. "It means that it includes everything. It means that I am very much in line with PAN," he said.
