JAKARTA - The Papuan Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General Pol Mathius D Fakhiri confirmed that he would provide strict sanctions for members of the Police involved in drug cases.

"There is no mercy for members who are involved in drugs, because apart from damaging themselves, their families and the environment around them, the sanctions that will be given are dismissal," said Inspector General Pol Fakhiri, in Jayapura, Tuesday.

He confirmed that currently there are narcotics cases involving two members of the Jayapura Police, which are handled by the Directorate of Drugs at the Papua Police.

Director of Drugs at the Papua Police, Kombes Alfian, separately admitted that from the results of the examination of the two members of the Police serving at the Jayapura Police, it was revealed that both of them knew that the package taken at one of the delivery service offices in Sentani contained drugs.

The two members, S (36) and A (27) admitted to investigators that the package they took contained methamphetamine, so that both of them were declared as dealers.

From the statements of the two members, the package belonged to AS (39) who was fired from the National Police because of a case of shabu-shabu.

All three are subject to Article 114 and Article 112 of Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and the threat of dismissal for the two members, said Kombes Alfian.
