Laot Ensure Headless Bodies In Aceh Fishermen Sri Lanka

BANDA ACEH - The Panglima Laot Aceh Institute confirmed that the headless corpse found in the waters of Nasi Island, Pulo Aceh District, Aceh Besar District, was a fisherman from Sri Lanka.

Deputy Secretary General of Panglima Laot Aceh Miftah Tjut Adek said it was certain that the headless corpse was a Sri Lankan fisherman, judging by the same hull number between the missing Sri Lankan fishing boat and the facedown boat number found in Pulo Aceh.

"After we matched the hull number with the news from Sri Lanka that the ship capsized due to bad weather, it matched the registration number IMUL-A-0077 CBO," said Miftach Tjut Adek, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 7.

Previously, a body without a head and arms was found by people stranded in the waters of Alu Reuyeung Pulo (Pulau) Nasi Pulo Aceh District, Aceh Besar District.

The discovery of the body began with the presence of a 5 GT ship which was found face down, after being lifted it turned out that under the ship a corpse was found without a head and arms.

Miftach said, based on the information received, a fishing vessel with registration number IMUL-A-0077 CBO departed from the fishing port of Mirissa, Sri Lanka on May 31, 2021, and four fishermen were on board.

According to Miftach, the crew was in a desperate situation until it capsized due to bad weather at sea about 40 nautical miles (about 74km) from Galle.

Then, continued Miftach, three fishermen from the ship were rescued by the Sri Lankan navy, and took them on a fishing boat in the Southern Sea to safety.

"The fishing trawler rescued three fishermen from the capsized boat, and one fisherman is missing," Miftach said.

The body has been post-mortem at the Zainoel Abidin Hospital in Banda Aceh to determine the cause of death and its identity.

In fact, the Aceh Besar Police also suspected that the corpse was from Sri Lanka, so coordination with the International Relations Division (Divhubinter) of the National Police Headquarters was carried out to obtain a follow-up.
