Posyandu In Sukabumi Collapses, 10 Women Injured
SUKABUMI - Heavy rains that fell almost all day caused the building of Posyandu Bougenvil in Cipeureudah Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java to suddenly collapse. The rubble fell on 10 women who were inside the building and were injured.
"There were no fatalities in this incident, only 10 women were injured when the rubble of the Posyandu building collapsed," Cireunghas Police Chief Iptu Ujang Taan told reporters in Sukabumi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 7.
According to information gathered from the police, the collapse of the Posyandu located in RT 01/07, Bencoy Village, Cireunghas District, at around 09.30 WIB, was allegedly caused by heavy rain, plus the condition of the building's supporting poles that were rotten.
At that time, this posyandu was being used for face-to-face learning for early childhood education (PAUD) participants, suddenly the posyandu building in front of the room that was used as a classroom collapsed and immediately hit a number of women who were parents.
As a result of the incident, the atmosphere immediately turned into panic, because it was seen that several victims were trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings and were injured, such as in the head, hands, feet, and other body parts.
Residents who were in the vicinity of the incident immediately helped the victims, to take them to the nearest health center and reported the incident to the police.
The majority of the victims suffered minor injuries, but some of them had lacerations to their heads due to being hit by debris, as experienced by Ani (41), a local resident, who suffered cuts to the head and received five stitches.
"Our members have processed the crime scene (TKP) and it is known the cause of the collapse of the building, due to the weathered condition. For PAUD students who were studying in another room, no one was injured," he also said.
Ujang said that his party had coordinated with the Sukabumi District Health Office to provide medical treatment to the injured victims and reported it to other relevant agencies, so that the building was immediately repaired and ensured that it was safe for community activities.
