PPKM In Sorong City, Papua Down To Level 2, Mayor Lambert Asks Residents To Stay Alert
SORONG - Policy for the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level 3 in Sorong City, West Papua Province has dropped to level 2 according to the instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 41 of 2021.
The Minister of Home Affairs Instruction Number 41 of 2021 explains that Sorong City has dropped to level 2 along with seven other regions in West Papua, namely Sorong Regency, Kaimana, Raja Ampat, South Manokwari, Maybrat, Arfak Mountains, Wondama, and Tambrauw.
Sorong Mayor Lambert Jitmau said PPKM in Sorong city had dropped from level 3 to level 2 in accordance with the assessment of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"PPKM has dropped to level 2, because positive cases of COVID-19 have decreased. This is all thanks to the hard work of all stakeholders in Sorong City," explained Lambert in Sorong, Antara, Tuesday, September 7.
"I thank the TNI, Polri, Task Force for Handling COVID-19, Health Workers and all parties involved in handling COVID-19, so that PPKM Sorong City has dropped to level 2," he said again.
Although the PPKM in Sorong City has dropped to level 2, Mayor Lambert Jitmau appealed to the public not to be careless and remain vigilant. COVID is still there and threatening.
"Keep implementing health protocols, namely diligently washing hands, maintaining distance, and always wearing masks in public places as an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19," he said.
He added that community activities were relaxed as well as the implementation of PPKM level 2. However, the implementation of health protocols must also continue to be carried out to break the chain of spread of COVID-19.
