Shin Tae-yong's New Roadmap Has The Potential To Create Another Polemic With PSSI

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, has provided a new roadmap (program plan) to the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI). However, this roadmap is likely to lead to a new polemic. The reason is, there are several things that are highlighted by PSSI.

PSSI General Chairman Mochamad Iriawan said the new roadmap was only for the U-23 and U-19 national teams. In fact, Shin was given the responsibility of holding the senior national team, U-23 and U-19. So PSSI is still waiting for the roadmap for the senior national team.

This is considered important because in the near future the senior national team will compete in the 2022 World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone. The Red and White squad cannot qualify, although there is an opportunity to improve their position.

"Maybe we will have a virtual meeting to discuss this," said the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule to the media.

Another problem is the existence of the U-19 national team training center (TC) program in South Korea. This program, which previously made the relationship between PSSI and the Korean coach, heated up before. In the roadmap that was distributed to the media, the U-19 national team is scheduled to arrive in Gingseng Country on July 14 and will undergo quarantine until July 27, 2020.

After that, on July 28 to August 31, 2020, Shin plans to hold a TC there. Not only training and testing, the U-19 national team will also watch the Korean League live.

On September 7, Bagus Kahfi et al will return to Indonesia. They will undergo TC in Jakarta with the senior national team until October 4. On October 5, the U-19 national team is scheduled to arrive in Uzbekistan and finalize preparations for the 2020 U-19 Asian Cup.

PSSI asked Shin to continue to hold training in Indonesia. The PSSI Ketum asked Shin to come to Indonesia in the near future. The hope is that the former Korean national team coach can reduce 44 names to 23 or 30 names. After that, PSSI can accommodate the desire for TC in Korea or other countries.

"What is clear is for the progress of the national team,"

Chairman of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan

However, Shin has not shown any signs of returning to Indonesia. The 44-year-old man is believed to be still afraid to fulfill PSSI's summons. This is because the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia continues to increase and the number for each day is increasing. It could be, Shin Tae-yong will not come anytime soon as PSSI wanted.

"Hopefully, in the second week of July he will come to Indonesia," hoped the Head of PSSI.
