Israel Launches Air Strikes Against The Gaza Strip, Targets Hamas Rocket Making Sites

JAKARTA - The Israeli military (IDF) again carried out air strikes on the Gaza Strip area on Monday evening local time, an attack that again targeted a number of targets it said were related to Hamas.

Citing The Jerusalem Post Tuesday, September 7, the IDF confirmed it had hit several targets in the Gaza Strip, in response to fires in southern Israel caused by incendiary balloons launched from the Gaza Strip.

In addition, Palestinian media reported on Monday evening an Israeli civilian vehicle was damaged by machine gun fire from Palestinians near Sderot.

Israeli Air Force (IAF) aircraft targeted a Hamas rocket manufacturing site, as well as a concrete factory in Khan Younis. According to an IDF spokesman statement, the concrete made at the targeted plant was used to build Hamas' underground terror tunnel network.

The IDF also noted that these sites are located in the heart of civilian areas in the Gaza Strip, near cultural sites, mosques and water facilities. However, there were no casualties and no injuries, according to Palestinian media.

Earlier on Monday, three fires broke out at the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council. Israeli investigators determined it was caused by incendiary balloons sent from the Gaza Strip.

This is the second air strike in three weeks. Two weeks ago, IAF warplanes bombed Hamas sites in Gaza in retaliation for incendiary balloons launched from the Palestinian enclave that set fires in southern Israel.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed the airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. IDF fighter jets have attacked a weapons production site in Khan Younis, a tunnel in Jabaliya and a rocket launch platform in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City, which is located in a civilian area near a school.

"The attack was in response to the shooting of incendiary balloons, which proves once again that the Hamas organization continues to lead and make Gaza a terrorist state," the IDF said.

The IDF stressed that it will continue to respond strongly to further attempts to attack terrorism, holding Hamas responsible for everything that happens in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Hamas said Israeli airstrikes against them would only increase their resolve to continue the fight for their rights.

"The bombing of the occupation in the Gaza Strip shows its confusion and failure regarding the steadfastness and stability of the Palestinian people. We will continue our resistance, the bombing will only increase our determination and persistence to take our rights," said Hamas official Ismail Radwan.
