The Governor Of Southeast Sulawesi Brings Good News, The Economy In The Second Quarter Of 2021 Is Gradually Recovering

KENDARI - Governor of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Ali Mazi said the province's economic condition began to gradually recover in the second quarter of 2021 which was previously very low due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The economy of Southeast Sulawesi in the second quarter of 2021 has gradually recovered so that it can grow by 4.21 percent, higher than the achievement in the second quarter of 2020 which experienced a contraction of 2.59 percent," said Ali Mazi in a speech exposing development progress in the next three years. leadership with his deputy Lukman Abunawas in Kendari, reported by Antara, Monday, September 7.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hampered the growth rate of all economic business fields in Southeast Sulawesi except the information and communication sector so that almost all growth targets have not been achieved.

As a result, the Southeast Sulawesi economy in 2020 experienced a contraction of 0.65 percent. He said this was the lowest achievement in the last three years in a five-year period.

"Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic growth of Southeast Sulawesi Province was always above the national average with a value of above 6 percent per year," he said.

However, in the second quarter of 2021 the Southeast Sulawesi economy began to recover even though it was still in the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by the electricity and gas procurement business field of 16.75 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by the component of exports of goods and services which grew by 132.49 percent. Furthermore, the Gini ratio of Southeast Sulawesi Province as of March 2021 is 0.39. He hopes that Southeast Sulawesi's Gini ratio will continue to decline so that the target at the end of the period can be achieved by 0.38 points.

"Based on the World Bank's inequality measure, the level of inequality in Southeast Sulawesi is in the medium category," he said.
