2 People Die, Dozens Are Treated For Poisoning In Karawang, 13 People Are Being Questioned By The Police
KARAWANG - Karawang Police, West Java Regional Police examined 13 people related to the poisoning incident which resulted in dozens of people being treated and two others dying.
"We have examined 13 witnesses in the poisoning incident that occurred on Saturday (4/9)," said Kasatreskrim Karawang Police AKP Oliestha Ageng Wicaksana in Karawang, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 6.
He said that of the 13 witnesses who were questioned, four of them were the ones who made the food which was then served at a recitation program.
According to Oliestha Ageng, apart from asking for information from witnesses, his party is coordinating with the Puslabfor Polri Headquarters.
This is done to check the content of food that makes residents experience poisoning.
"Samples of blood, urine, and vomit from a number of victims of rice poisoning thanks to the (food) have also been brought for laboratory testing," he said.
The mass poisoning incident was suspected to have been from the food served at a recitation event in the Cikampek area.
Head of the North Cikampek Public Health Center, Nenden Maulina, said from the data collection that had been carried out, there were 87 residents who were poisoned.
The poisoning victims were then taken to a number of hospitals and health centers for intensive treatment.
In general, the residents who were poisoned experienced the same symptoms, namely dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and some experienced shortness of breath.
Until now, there are still 18 residents who are undergoing treatment in a number of hospitals and health centers.
