Police Raid Cockfighting Tajen Gambling In Jembrana, One Person Becomes A Suspect, 8 Dead Chickens Become Evidence
JEMBRANA - A man named I Nengah Sugiarta alias Sugik (43) was arrested by the Jembrana Police, Bali, for holding a tajen gambling or cockfight that caused a crowd.
"The person concerned has been detained along with the evidence for investigation," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jembrana Bali Police, AKP M. Reza Pranata, Monday, September 6.
The cockfighting gambling took place on Friday, September 3, at around 14.00 WITA. At that time, the police received a report from the public about the existence of tajen gambling on vacant land in West Tegal Badeng Village, Negara District, Jembrana Regency, Bali.
Then, the police came to the location and immediately carried out a raid on the tajen arena.
"At the TKP (the crime scene) found people who were doing cockfighting gambling activities. Then the organizers of the cockfighting gambling were arrested," he added.
Meanwhile, the evidence that was secured was 1 chicken cage or chicken cage, 1 set of spurs or one spur rhizome, 2 removable spurs, red thread that had been used.
There were also 8 dead chickens, 9 live chickens, 3 chicken thighs, and 1 knife and Rp525,000 in cash which was confiscated from the organizers.
"The person concerned is subject to Article 303 paragraph (1) 2e of the Criminal Code, is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 10 years or a maximum fine of Rp. 25 million," he said.
