Thief Of 250 Kg Of Dragon Fruit In Banyuwangi Arrested
BANYUWANGI - Police arrested a fugitive dragon fruit thief in the Muncar area, Banyuwangi, East Java. The man with the initials AP (21) stole a dragon fruit belonging to his neighbor.
He stole 5 sacks of dragon fruit weighing 250 kg from Galih Budiarta, a resident of Sumberjoyo Hamlet, Muncar, Banyuwangi on Tuesday, August 31.
The suspect admitted to the police that he had stolen five sacks, each containing 50 kg. The theft was committed 2 times.
"First the thieves took 2 sacks and then sold them to a man with the initials PK who is currently still at large," said Muncar Police Chief Kompol Zaenuri, Monday, September 6.
Zaenuri said the suspect repeated his actions by taking as many as 3 sacks of dragon fruit.
The perpetrator hid the stolen goods behind the suspect's house, which was not far from the garden location.
"However, when the suspect was about to sell the dragon fruit, the victim found out and was eventually secured at the Muncar Police Headquarters. When asked, the suspect also admitted his actions," he said.
This case began when the victim visited her dragon fruit garden in the morning. He was surprised to see that many dragon fruit in his garden had disappeared from being harvested by people.
The victim then reported the case to the police. The perpetrator was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code regarding theft.
