Qualcomm Makes A New Chipset, Claimed To Be 20 Percent Better Than The Previous Generation
JAKARTA – The chip company Qualcomm is working on its latest chipset which is claimed to have better performance for use in smartphones. The latest Snapdragon chip will get a 20 percent increase.
Qualcomm is rumored to be naming the chip with the name Snapdragon 895 or Snapdragon 898. This information was revealed by one of the mobile phone experts named Abhishek Yadav. He assessed that the latest Snapdragon chip will be produced using Samsung's 4nm architecture which is claimed to have better performance than before.
According to Beebom's report, the latest Snapdragon chipset has been leaked under the code name 'taro'. The list is based on Vivo's prototype smartphone with the model number V2102A. The device is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and uses Android 12.
The new chip features the Adreno 730 GPU. Lenovo executives assess the chip will have significantly improved performance than the Adreno 660 Snapdragon 888 GPU. In addition, Yadav also admitted that he had seen the Snapdragon 898.
The Snapdragon 898 has one core which is thought to be Arm's Cortex-X2 – clocked at 2.42 GHz, with three mid-range CPUs which are most likely Arm's Cortex-A710 and clocked at 2.17 GHz. Coupled with four high-efficiency cores, estimated Cortex-A510 with a frequency of 1.79 GHz.
According to a report from Phone Arena, with these specifications, the chip is claimed to be able to produce faster performance and that's why the single and multi-core chip scores are 720 and 1,919. However, this does not describe the performance of the Snapdragon 898.
However, the rumored latest chip appears to be based on the ARMv8 architecture and not the latest ARMv9. In addition, the main Snapdragon 898 core, Kryo 780, is predicted to offer a clock speed of almost 3.09 GHz.
While the Snapdragon 888 Plus version features a maximum clock speed of 2,995 GHz. Qualcomm's latest chip is predicted to be launched in 2022.
