There Are Allegations Of Omission, Komnas HAM Will Summon KPI And The Police After MS Examination Tomorrow
JAKARTA - MS's lawyer, Muhammad Mualimin said that his client will come to fulfill the summons of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) on Tuesday, September 7, tomorrow.
"So you can only go to Komnas HAM on Tuesday, September 7, tomorrow," said Mualimin when contacted by VOI, Monday, September 6.
As is known, Komnas HAM had actually invited MS to come to give information on Thursday and Friday last week. However, at that time MS could not attend because of exhaustion after undergoing an examination at the Central Jakarta Metro Police.
On Monday today, MS also underwent another psychological examination at the Police Hospital, Kramatjati, East Jakarta. Komnas HAM intervened to investigate this case of bullying and harassment against MS because it suspected that there was omission from the KPI and the police.
"Because we saw that there were allegations of neglect and the victims were not handled properly," said Komnas HAM Commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara.
MS in his viral open letter admitted that he had been a victim of bullying by his co-workers since working at KPI in 2012. Then in 2015 he was sexually harassed by five of his co-workers.
MS admitted that he had reported the matter to his superiors and the Gambir Police, but the report was never followed up.
Beka stated that his party would summon the KPI and the police to investigate the alleged omission. However, before summoning the KPI and the police, Komnas HAM will first ask the victim for information.
Apart from Komnas HAM, investigations into this case are also ongoing at the internal KPI and the police. KPI has disabled 8 alleged perpetrators of sexual harassment and bullying against MS to facilitate investigations.
