BMKG Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain With Winds Expected To Cover Several Provinces In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has asked residents to be aware of the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in a number of provinces in Indonesia on Monday, September 6.

As reported by Antara, BMKG predicts heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds to potentially occur in the provinces of Bangka Belitung, Banten, Bengkulu, DKI Jakarta, Jambi, West Java, and East Java.

The provinces of West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Lampung, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, Riau, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Sumatra and South Sumatra also have the opportunity to face heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.

In the DKI Jakarta area, rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds is predicted in South Jakarta and East Jakarta in the afternoon and evening.

Previously, the BMKG reported that 85.1 percent of Indonesia's territory was experiencing a dry season and long days without extreme rain (more than 60 days) occurred in West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.

The BMKG also stated that the rainy season has started in parts of central Sumatra, parts of Central Java, most of Kalimantan, Sulawesi, North Maluku, and eastern Papua.

During the transition from the dry season to the rainy season, residents are advised to be aware of extreme weather events such as hail, short periods of heavy rain, and tornadoes.
