Video Call With Paralympic Gold Medal Winner, Jokowi Raises Two Thumbs Up: I'm Waiting At The Palace!

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo made a video call with the gold-winning athlete of the Tokyo Paralympics badminton and his coach, Sapta Kunta Purnama.

In the video call connection, Jokowi greeted them with a happy face. Sapta and the athletes also showed happiness, namely Leani Ratri Oktila, Khalimatus Sadiyah, and Hary Susanto.

To them, Jokowi congratulated them for winning two gold medals in the women's doubles and mixed doubles badminton. Jokowi's congratulations were accompanied by two thumbs up.

"I represent all Indonesian people, all Indonesian people congratulate you on the gold medal in women's doubles and mixed doubles badminton. Just now for Ratri and Hary, mixed doubles. Then Ratri and Khalim women's doubles. This is very, very, very, very news. very, very encouraging. Very proud of all of us," said Jokowi as in the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube show, Sunday, September 5.

Jokowi said he was grateful. Because, Indonesia can again win a gold medal in the Paralympics after 41 years. In fact, Indonesia won two gold medals at once. Jokowi then waited for them to be present at the State Palace to get the award.

"Thank you everyone. I will wait for you later at the Palace, sir, and everyone," said Jokowi, who kept smiling.

The Indonesian team coach, Sapta also thanked Jokowi for allowing them to travel to Tokyo to participate in the 2020 Paralympics.

"Thank you Mr President. We are leaving for Tokyo with the blessing of the President and all the people of Indonesia to achieve extraordinary achievements. We will always pray for Mr. President to always be healthy and blessed by God to lift Indonesia forward," he said.

For information, Indonesia has won three medals from the 2020 Paralympic badminton. The gold medal was won by Ratri from the SL3-SU5 mixed doubles with Hary Susanto.

Last Saturday, Ratri donated the first gold medal for the Indonesian national team through the women's doubles sector SL3-SU5 paired with Khalimatus Sadiyah.

On Sunday morning's match session, Ratri also secured a silver medal in the SL4 women's singles number, after being defeated by Cheng He Fang from China.
