Confess To Gibran Rakabuming, This Student Has Seen Teachers Smoking, Kicking Up Political Campaigns At School
SOLO - A student protested against the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, regarding the proliferation of cigarette advertisements posted in the area around the school.
The student named Jeje, who comes from Laweyan District, hopes that there will be firm action from the Solo City Government.
"I want to ask, earlier in the child's voice there was an advertisement for cigarette sponsorship, how about this? Because there are still many cigarette sponsor advertisements near the school. At my old school, there were still many advertisements in stalls, there were cigarette sponsors, sir," said Jeje in a talkshow virtual session with Gibran with the Surakarta City Children's Forum reported by the Surakarta News Youtube channel, Sunday, September 5.
In addition to advertising, this student also protested the behavior of his teacher while attending one of the Surakarta Junior High Schools where the teacher still smoked in the school environment.

Not only that, but Jeje also said that he once found the teacher indulging in politics while teaching (the Campaign) to the point of bullying by kicking students. Gibran then asking, when did the bullying or the teacher's smoking habit occur? Because the current Solo City Government strictly forbids it.
"When did this happen?" asked Gibran.
"It happened when I was in 8th grade, meaning 2 years ago. I have reported this," the student replied.
The eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) then explained that the Solo City Government recently received the title as a Child Friendly City. In the future, together with all government stakeholders, Gibran targets to win the title of Solo as a Plenary Child-friendly City.
One way to do this is by eliminating cigarette advertisements either near schools or around places of worship.
"This is my job and Mr. Teguh (Deputy Mayor). We will monitor advertisements near schools and places of worship," explained Gibran.
In addition, Gibran also emphasized that acts of bullying on students by teachers are not justified. He asked Jeje along with all children's forums not to hesitate to report to the school principal or the local Education Office.
