Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Leani/Khalimatus Win Gold Medal Defeat China
JAKARTA – Successfully defeating the Chinese pair, Cheng Hefang/Ma Huihui in the final, the Indonesian women's doubles pair, Leani/Khalimatus, won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Competing at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, Saturday 4 September Leani/Khalimatus have been leading their opponents since the beginning of the game.
Several times, Khalimatus' hard smash made the Chinese pair difficult. Likewise with the game in front of the net that was demonstrated by Leani which several times resulted in points.
Leani/Khalimatus lead 11-9 in the first game interval. After the break, the Chinese pair managed to find a way to catch up on points. They try to slow down the tempo by placing the ball away from pressure.
Even though they were almost overtaken, Leani/Khalimatus continued to excel in the first game with a score of 21-18. While in the second set, Leani/Khalimatus returned with their attacking game.
The Indonesian doubles pair was not overtaken and took the lead again in the second set interval with 11-19. They continued to maintain this advantage, while the Chinese pair found it difficult to get out of the pressure until they made some mistakes of their own.
Leani/Khalimatus continued to move away until winning 17-12. Slowly but surely the Indonesian pair continued to add points. Leani/Khalimatus ended the resistance of the Chinese pair and closed the second game with 21-12.
With this, badminton was recorded to have contributed three medals, with details of one gold medal, one silver medal and one bronze medal. The silver and bronze medals came from the men's singles on behalf of Dheva Anrimusthi and Suryo Nugroho.
