Mahfud Asks Kapolda To Handle Case Of Destruction Of Ahmadiyah Mosque In West Kalimantan
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked the Regional Police Chief and the Governor of West Kalimantan to immediately handle the case of the destruction of the Ahmadiyah mosque in West Kalimantan.
Mahfud on Friday, September 3, contacted the Kapolda and the Governor of West Kalimantan to find out and confirm the attack and destruction of the Ahmadiyah house of worship in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan.
"I have communicated with the Governor and Kapolda of West Kalimantan so that this case is immediately handled properly by paying attention to the law, paying attention to peace, harmony, and paying attention to the protection of human rights. Everything must follow the rule of law," said Mahfud, quoted by Antara, Friday, September 3 .
Mahfud said the Kapolda and the Governor of West Kalimantan have handled this problem and it will be resolved legally so that all parties are expected to exercise restraint.
"This is a sensitive issue, everyone must exercise restraint. We live in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia where human rights are protected by the state," said Mahfud, who regretted the incident happened.
To all parties, Mahfud reminded about respect for human rights.
According to him, the state guarantees people who try to live comfortably in the area they want.
"The first presence of this country is actually to protect human rights and human dignity, so we are independent. From the protection of human dignity, we then outline what the purpose of this state is, public welfare. This must be maintained, security, order and protection. against people who try to live comfortably in the desired area," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
Attacks and destruction of places of worship and buildings belonging to the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation (JAI) in West Kalimantan. A group of people using stones and bamboo damaged the mosque building located in Balai Gana Village, Temunuk District, Sintang Regency.
