JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion has issued guidelines for the implementation of limited face-to-face learning (PTM) in madrasas, Islamic boarding schools, and other Islamic religious education during the COVID-19 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) implementation.

"In general, the implementation of limited PTM for the 2021/2022 academic year must pay attention to government policies regarding PPKM and refer to the provisions in the Four Ministerial Decree," said Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religion M. Ali explained that the madrasah educational institutions include Raudhatul Athfal, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Madrasah Tsanawiyah, and Madrasah Aliyah/Vocational.

Meanwhile, Islamic boarding schools include Formal Diniyah Education (PDF), Muadah Education Unit (SPM), Ma'had Aly, Equality Education in Salafiyah Islamic Boarding Schools (PKPPS), Madrasas or Schools in Islamic Boarding Schools, Higher Education in Islamic Boarding Schools, and Islamic Boarding School Education in the Form of Yellow Book Studies. Islamic religious education institutions with dormitories or non-boarding schools include Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah (MDT) and Al Quran Educational Institutions (LPQ).

"In its implementation, madrasas, Islamic boarding schools, as well as boarding and non-boarding Islamic Religious Education Institutions, must coordinate with the regional COVID-19 Task Force and health service facilities or the local health office," he said.

Especially for madrasas, he said, the circular stipulates filling out a limited PTM readiness checklist. This checklist will be one of the monitoring materials for the Head of the Regency/Municipal Ministry of Religion regarding the readiness of madrasas in the implementation of PTM.

Islamic boarding schools and boarding schools that do not meet the requirements or do not implement the provisions as stipulated in the Four Ministerial Decree, are not allowed to carry out limited PTM activities and continue to carry out distance learning.

Previously, the Director of Curriculum, Facilities, Institutions and Student Affairs (KSKK) of the Ministry of Religion, M. Ishom Yusqi, stated that his party was ready to hold Face-to-face Learning (PTM), after conducting trials since August 10.

"The trial is also an effort to prepare for the implementation of Limited PTM in several madrasas in each province," said Ishom.

Ishom explained that about 18 percent of the percentage of madrasah that had tested PTM were spread over 34 provinces. The PTM trial is prioritized for madrasas that already have learning readiness as stipulated in the Decree of the Four Ministers, namely the Minister of Education and Culture, the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the Minister of Law and Human Rights.

From data compiled from the Ministry of Education and Culture's website, the total number of schools under the authority of the Ministry of Religion and who have undergone a face-to-face learning process which began on Monday (30/8) are 4,383 schools.
