Mayor Of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi Hears PKL's Complaints About Operational Hours
SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi listened to the complaints of street vendors who asked for additional business operating hours during the implementation of level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
"Regarding business operating hours in Surabaya, it is in accordance with the Inmendagri (Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs) regarding PPKM," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi when receiving an audience with representatives of street vendors (PKL) at Surabaya City Hall, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 2.
Present at the hearing were the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi and the Head of Regional Apparatus (PD) within the Surabaya City Government (Pemkot). There was also the Surabaya Police Chief Kombes Akhmad Yusep Gunawan and the 084/Bhaskara Jaya Korem Chief of Staff Colonel Inf Erwin Rustiawan representing the Korem Commander.
According to Eri Cahyadi, the PPKM policy does not only apply in the city of Surabaya, but also in all areas that have been regulated in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"That there are no activities that are not in accordance with the Ministry of Home Affairs. All cities are doing the same thing. God willing, all the rules are the same," said Eri.
However, Eri Cahyadi stated, if there are still business actors operating beyond the specified hours, then the information can be submitted to the officers for immediate action. Because, without community involvement, the PPKM policy in Surabaya will not be able to run perfectly.
"That's why it's the people who spearhead it. Surabaya is not great because of its government, but the people who spearhead it. Currently, there are some that are still open (exceeding the rules) please (please) submit," he said.
Meanwhile, Surabaya Police Chief Kombes Akhmad Yusep Gunawan explained that the TNI and Polri fully support the city government's policies in implementing the COVID-19 handling strategy.
Moreover, currently Surabaya has a yellow zone status, he continued, so of course it must be maintained or downgraded to green. "This is the first time that Surabaya is a yellow zone, meaning that we have to maintain pride. Because this is not easy and we must maintain it," said the Police Chief.
The Head of Staff of Korem (Kasrem) 084/Bhaskara Jaya, Colonel Inf. Erwin Rustiawan, said the same thing. He added, so far Forkopimda Surabaya routinely evaluates the handling of COVID-19. Even so, in its implementation in the field, of course it requires support from the community.
"What the Mayor said was for the good of all. Therefore, in the implementation in the field, let's work together to provide information. As humans, we are limited, there must be shortcomings. What is clear is that we will follow up," he said.
