Social Service Runs Out Of Budget, Mukomuko Residents Join For Operational Officers Delivering ODGJ

MUKOMUKO - Residents of Pondok Batu Village, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province jointly (collect) money to take people with mental disorders to the hospital.

This step was taken by the residents because there was no aid fund from the local Social Service.

"We ran out of funds, so residents used their own costs for the operational costs of officers taking people with mental disorders to mental hospitals," said Head of the Mukomuko Regency Social Service, Saroni in his statement at Mukomuko, Antara, Thursday, September 2.

The Mukomuko Regency Government annually allocates funds for the operational costs of officers taking people with mental disorders to seek treatment at a mental hospital in Bengkulu City.

For this year, the local Social Service has received an allocation of around Rp. 50 million for operational costs. The money has been used to deliver 10 people with mental disorders for treatment.

"Currently the funds for the operational costs of officers who deliver people with mental disorders have run out, we have delivered 11 sufferers, but this one person uses his own expenses," he said.

Currently, there are still three people with mental disorders in the area who have never received assistance from the service. Unfortunately, the budget allocation to the agency has run out.

In addition to these obstacles, some people with mental disorders who had been sent for treatment to the hospital relapsed and asked to be brought back.

"If we have operational funds, we will definitely prioritize people with mental disorders who have never been sent for treatment to a mental hospital in Bengkulu City," he said.

There are no instructions for proposing funds to take patients for treatment to mental hospitals in Bengkulu City.
