So Attention, These 11 Provinces Still Experience An Increase In COVID-19 In The Last Month

JAKARTA - Cases of COVID-19 over the past month have decreased by 86.9 percent. However, Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, highlighted 11 provinces that experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past month.

"What needs to be paid attention to is that there are still 11 provinces that experienced an increase in the number of positive cases in August compared to July," Wiku said on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video, Thursday, September 2.

The 11 provinces are Aceh, which has an increase in COVID-19 cases in the past month by 152 percent, Central Sulawesi up 111 percent, Gorontalo up 57 percent.

Then, South Kalimantan rose 47 percent, North Sumatra rose 44 percent, North Kalimantan rose 24 percent, Bali rose 15 percent, Bangka Belitung rose 10 percent, and South Sulawesi rose 5 percent, and Jambi rose 5 percent.

"Given that cases in August were still higher than cases in the first wave in January, our task in reducing cases is still not finished," said Wiku.

Then, if you look at the COVID-19 death rate, only 8 out of 34 provinces showed a decrease in August compared to July. This means that there are still 16 provinces that have experienced an increase in deaths.

There were also 5 provinces that experienced the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths, including Bali, which rose by 752 deaths, North Sumatra by 610 deaths, Lampung by 585 deaths, South Kalimantan by 501 deaths, and Central Sulawesi by 470 deaths.

Therefore, Wiku asked local governments not only to understand regional data, but also to link one data to another in order to identify the real problem.

"Examples of data that must be linked to one another is to relate death data to things that have the potential to cause a high mortality rate, such as BOR data and the availability of medical devices in health care facilities," said Wiku.

"Connect death data with the availability and utilization of centralized isolation places. Even up to the number of Task Forces and the implementation of the post function down to the RT-RW level," he added.
