Firli Bahuri Affirms No Conflict Of Interest In The KPK

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri stated that he never felt that he had a conflict of interest with his institution. Firli also said that he had never used his power as the head of the institution for his personal interests.

"I have never had a conflict of interest with my institution," he said, quoted from his written statement to reporters, Thursday, September 2.

Firli said the decisions he made while serving as chairman of the anti-corruption commission were always aimed at the people. The former deputy for prosecution of the Corruption Eradication Commission also ensured that the decisions made were in line with the country's goals.

"Until now, the KPK has only one grip on the goals of the state because no individual can escape from the goals of the state," said Firli.

He asked for this attitude to be imitated by other institutions in the KPK. In addition, this attitude makes the institution continue to eradicate corruption without being interfered with by personal interests.

Firli said that his party would try to promote anti-corruption education to the public. This is done so that in the future there will be no more acts of corruption in the country.

"Only then at the end there are actions that we continue to run," he concluded.
