Only Reached 26 Percent, Student Vaccination In Surabaya Targeted By Walkot Eri Cahyadi Completed In October

SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi targets the COVID-19 vaccination for students in his area to be completed in October. Until now, the vaccination of students in Batu Surabaya has reached 26 percent, or the equivalent of 70 thousand out of a total of about 270,000 students in Surabaya.

"The target is hopefully next month it can be 100 percent. But if I hope it will be 100 percent by the end of the month," said Eri, in Surabaya, Thursday, September 2.

To achieve this target, Eri Cahyadi hopes that the Surabaya City Government will continue to receive vaccines from both the central government and the East Java Provincial Government. Because, Eri Cahyadi admitted that the vaccination of students in Surabaya could not be maximized, due to the limited stock of available vaccines.

"Hopefully the vaccine will also continue to come, so we can immediately vaccinate again," he said.

Eri Cahyadi said that the acceleration of vaccination for students in Surabaya continues, almost every school in Surabaya. But again, the implementation of vaccination is carried out in stages, due to the limited stock of vaccines, so that vaccination cannot be carried out in all schools.

Based on data from the Surabaya City Government, only about 26 percent of students have been vaccinated with the first dose, or about 70,000 out of a total of about 270,000 students in the city of Surabaya.

"Our vaccines are distributed per region. Indeed, we cannot touch all of them, when the vaccine is available we will focus on school children," said Eri Cahyadi.

On Wednesday, September 1st, a mass vaccination for students was held at SMAN 21 Surabaya. Vaccination which is a collaboration between the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of East Java and the City Government (Pemkot) of Surabaya was attended by 761 students from SMAN 21 Surabaya. Hundreds of students were injected using the Sinovac vaccine.
