USU Academics Praise Bobby Nasution For Handling COVID-19 To Firmly Remove The Acting Head Of Medan Health Office
MEDAN - Academics from the University of North Sumatra (USU) assessed that the Medan City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Bobby Nasution, showed a commitment to realizing priority programs in the health sector, especially suppressing the spread of COVID-19.
"Health issues, particularly the handling of COVID-19, are one of the priority programs of the Medan City Government," said academician from USU's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faisal Andri Mahrawa, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 1.
This commitment, he continued, was shown by the firmness and seriousness of Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution in dealing with COVID-19, including the change of leadership of the Medan City Health Office.
Changing positions, he said, was not something extraordinary, especially in the midst of this pandemic situation to accelerate the handling of COVID-19 is very understandable.
Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution last week removed Syamsul Arifin Nasution from his four-month position as Acting Head of Health. Acting Kadinkes was replaced by Mardohar Tambunan.
This is the second time he has been removed, because previously the Head of Medan City Health Office, Edwin Effendi, who was considered slow, was later replaced by Syamsul Arifin Nasution.
"All parties really expect fast work from health stakeholders. Yes, we really need a progressive figure, someone who wants to move quickly," he said.
According to him, the strategic steps taken by the mayor must be followed up seriously and quickly by the Medan City Health Office.
"Accelerating the handling of COVID-19 can also be done with the 3T strategy, namely tracing, testing, and treatment. This must be understood to the lowest ranks," said Faisal.
