5 ATM Burglars In Labuhan Batu Arrested, Confessed Heartache Not Received Severance Pay From Company When Fired

MEDAN - Five perpetrators of breaking into an ATM machine in Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra were arrested by the police. The police are CURRENTLY looking for one more perpetrator whose identity has been identified.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Police, AKP Parikhesit, said the total number of perpetrators was 6 people. The five perpetrators who were arrested were secured from different places.

"(Suspect) we have secured 6.5 people and a search is still underway. We already know their identities," said AKP Parikhesit confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, September 1.

The five suspected ATM burglars were secured, namely, FAH (22), MAS (21), AF (27), APH (32), and AG (27). Suspect FAH is the mastermind of the ATM machine burglary.

AKP Parikhesit explained that FAH is an employee of the company in the field of maintenance and filling money at ATM machines. At his place of work, FAH is trusted to hold the key to the ATM safe.

The actors have different roles. Among them, there are perpetrators who turn off the electricity to the ATM machine.

"Because of that, they were able to break into without breaking the safe lock," he said.

It is known that the action of the ATM machine burglars took action last Saturday, June 12 at the Rantauprapat Hospital. In their action, this group of perpetrators stole Rp45 million in cash.

The proceeds of crime are then divided equally by this herd. When arrested, five suspects admitted to having spent the money.

From the interrogation, the perpetrator of FAH said that he was desperate to do this because he felt hurt towards the company where he worked.

His heartache arose because the company did not provide severance pay to the three other perpetrators who had been fired previously.

"We will snare the perpetrators under Articles 363/374 and 480 of the Criminal Code with a maximum threat of seven years in prison," said Parikhesit.
