Tomiyasu's First Words After Completed Transfer Worth IDR 371.5 Billion To Arsenal: I Promise To Give Everything

JAKARTA - Takehiro Tomiyasu speaks for the first time as an Arsenal player.

The 22-year-old became the Gunners' sixth signing of the summer transfer window when sealing a £19.75 million deal from Serie A side Bologna on transfer deadline day.

Tomiyasu joins Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale as new faces at Emirates Stadium this season and could make his home debut against Norwich City after the international break.

The right-back, who is equally adept at operating as a centre-back, could be a clever signing by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu.

On the day he arrived in London, the Japan international delivered a message for Arsenal supporters.

Taking a break while on duty with the Blue Samurai ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Oman and China, Tomiyasu promised his new fans.

"Hi Arsenal fans, I'm Tomi from Bologna," said Tomiyasu as quoted by Football London, Wednesday. "I am very happy to be part of the team.

"I promise to give everything to contribute to the team. I can't wait to see you at the stadium."

As mentioned above, Tomiyasu got to experience his first Premier League football a week after the international break. He is expected to play when the Canaries visit the Emirates Stadium.

"Takehiro is a strong defender with good experience in Serie A and at international level," Arteta told Arsenal.com. "He is a versatile defender with great defensive qualities, high technical ability and composure on the ball."

"He will be an important member of our squad. We look forward to Takehiro joining us when he returns from international duty."

Takehiro will wear jersey number 18.
